Bali

Last night we decided to get an extra massage each instead of hiring a car to take us up to the volcano and rice fields. We got facials and were nice and relaxed at bedtime. I am enjoying the nature at our villa. There are three dragonflies that buzz the plunge pool during the day. At dusk the jungle swallows start swooping down towards the river. The river is called the Ayung River. Our villa is located on one side of the river and a village is located up on the mountain on the other side. The first late afternoon an older man came down to the river. He saw me and bowed, blew kisses and then discreetly went around the bend where he bathed. I was in the plunge pool at the time. I was surprised. Then I saw villagers walking along the paths; the men carrying heavy bundles on their shoulders and the women balancing heavy loads on their heads. Later in the afternoon a mother and her son came down to the river. She washed clothes and bathed as did her son. I discreetly kept myself in the pool. A few moments after she left three children came down to the river to bathe. I then started thinking about how all the grandchildren would love to come and hang out by the river. Every once in awhile a white water craft comes floating by with screaming vacationers.

I have taken four floral baths-and have wished I had Maya and Kaitlyn with me each time to play with the blossoms. When Dick checks out the room I always visualize Ethan trotting after him checking things out also. Angie and I would have fun watching all the birds, insects, lizards, frogs and all things living. She would have loved the dragon worm that fell out of the ceiling one night and landed on me. It was fat like a worm, hard like a turtle and the head looked like a lion and insect combined. The Balinese had some strange name for it and laughed when I told them about it.

Of course I think how my mom and dad would love to see the gardens at the resorts. They are so lovely and smell wonderful.

Katie's future mother-in-law, Robin, and I would have tons of fun chatting with all the local women about weddings, clothing, customs and gifts.

And all the guys in my life, well they could go up to the bar with Dick, play tennis, golf, soccer, drink beer, and shake their heads at the women and or shopping.

At night I particularly enjoy the fireflies up in the jungle; when I take my glasses off the stars and the fireflies blend together. Very nice

Tomorrow afternoon we leave Bali to return to Bangkok and another five days of Thai living before we head home to the ice and cold.

As for shopping, Dick will be pleased to know that I think the bags are now pleasantly full and I still have money in my wallet. Naturally, he has his own comments on that idea but this is my blog.
