Helen Arlene (Reardon) Mack 4 Jul 1924 - 21 Feb 2007

My mother died last night. She was 82. As many of you know my mother had an abdominal aortic aneurysm. It started leaking the afternoon of the 20th. My dad and sister took her to the hospital for morphine shots to ease the pain. My dad and sister were with her when she died at 1:20 AM. She died as she had wanted and that is some comfort to me. I just wish that I had been their also.

The viewing will be Friday night and the funeral on Sat. I do not know any of the details as my father and sister were in the midst of planning when they got hold of me. Because of airline schedules I will not make it home in time for the funeral. This grieves me deeply. I do plan to leave for my dads a couple of days after we get home on the 26th to spend time with my sister and dad.

Right now the saddness is too intense for me to say much about my mother. I loved her dearly and over the years came to enjoy our almost daily conversations and about twice a year visits for the past five years. I will miss her deeply.

Mom:

I am very sad and sorry to hear about Grandma. Aunt Barbie called all of us kids personally. I didn't talk to her, she left me a message (my cell phone doesn't work too well, that is why), but Laura called me on the house phone and told me.

Laura, Stephen, Eric, Kaitlyn, Maya, Ethan and I (and maybe Tara) will all be driving to New York tomorrow morning so that we can make it on time for the 4 p.m. viewing. We will also be there on Saturday for the 9 a.m. mass at St. Ann's and the funeral. I thought that it might make you feel better to know that all of us will be there.

I love you very much, and please know that all of your kids are thinking and praying for you.

Love,
Katie

I am glad you and your sister and brothers, sister-in-law and nieces and nephews went to the viewing and funeral. It meant a lot to me that you all were there.
