Off to Michigan

At the Detroit airport this weekend I had a new experience...a shoe shine. This is something I have always wanted to do but never had shoes that would benefit from a shoe shine. Now in my 'retirement years' I own a pair of shoes substantial enough to have a shoe shine. 'Mose' was the fellow that did a spiffy job on my sturdy black shoes. The surprising part of the whole process--the very subtle and delightful message the top of the toes get as the polish is worked into the leather.

The only down side of the whole trip--the baggage handlers ripped the top handle off my suitcase. I bought a Travelpro2 set of luggage and have not had a bit of trouble until now. However, Southwest offered to repair the bag (I would have to drop it off and pick it up at BWI) which would take 4-6 weeks. Or, I could get a $50 voucher. We opted for the voucher. This morning I called Travelpro and for $12.50 including S&H they are sending me the repair pieces.
