Received this email from my daughter this morning "HAY THERE IS NOTHING NEW ON YOUR BLOG! YOU HAVE BEEN DOING LOTS OF INTERESTING THINGS!!! WAITING FOR SOMETHING TO READ! " Internet etiquette says that writing in all caps is yelling at me...or talking loud enough so that I can't ignore this message.
Okay, I hear you.
So I have been doing "lots of interesting things".....humph. OK, yesterday we had our Red Hat Society Christmas coffee. I am the Queen of our Red Hat group. We call ourselves the Sassy Ladies of the Chesapeake. We are a group of 25 women that have been gathering together about twice a month to share. Once a month we have a coffee at someones home. Personally, these are my favorite. I love to go to everyones home and see how it is decorated and eat lots of homemade sweets and drink more coffee than is good for me. I also love that I get to talk one on one with quite a few of the girls.
Yesterday we had our holiday coffee at Marianne's. Marianne was born in Germany and has many wonderful things in her home from Germany. Many things belonged to her grandmother. She has a marvelous collection of tea cups and dessert plates. It was fun to hold the delecate tea cups and saucers and balance a dessert plate with homemade Blake Forest Torte on my lap. She served hot spiced cider and egg nog (my favorite bottle of rum was on the side to kick the nog up a notch), coffee and tea in addition to various cookies and fruit...and of course, the homemade Black Forest Torte. Soft Christmas music played in the backgroud. I ate and drank, talked and listened. Naturally, I had to have one of everything and most often I had two, or three of everything. The cookies and torte were so delicious that maybe I had more of everything than I think. It was the most wonderful Christmas/Holiday party I have attended.
