Going to New York State

As soon as the car is packed I am headed up the road to New York State.

First stop is Kate, my 1st cousin once removed. Kate lives in Binghamton and is totally immersed in the genealogy of my Irish ancestry. I suspect there will be lots of talk, visits with elderly (elderly is defined as older than me) relatives, court houses and the library. After three nights of sleeping with Sophia her cat (she owns the guest bed) I will be headed farther north and more relatives

On Friday, Doug-he is the genealogy nut on the English side of the family, and I plan hours of sharing data. I can't wait to see him. He is also a 1st cousin once removed. His wife Mary is totally delightful.

Friday late afternoon I will be pulling into the driveway of my Dad's house in Macedon. My three sisters will be there and so will my brother. I think us four girls are going to spend a night sleepover (one sister lives with dad, the other lives about 5 min. away). The oldest, that's me and the youngest are coming in on Friday. I wonder if Dad is up to the shenanigans we four girls will pull?

The purpose of the trip is really bitter sweet. We will be going through our mother's things. Each of us will have a chance to choose keepsakes and the rest will be disposed of as Dad sees fit. The hardest part of this whole grief thing is the simple fact that I just can't pick up the phone and visit with MOM. And she won't be there for marathon talking sessions when I visit. It's just so sad.

I plan to be back Mon or Tues if you need to reach me just call my cell phone.
