Saturday...we went to David's Bridal Shop in Wilmington, DE. When I got there the kindly lady at the reception desk asked me who was the bride? Of course I said Daughter #2. She then informed me "the flower girl" is already here. Mind you, the Flower Girl is only 2 yo and certainly did not get there under her own power. She belongs to Daughter #1. Who accompanied her mother (the Maid of Honor) to the appointment. I reflected how quickly we ladies lose our own identies when we become "someone's mother."
Next to arrive were Daughter #2 and two more bridesmaids. The serious fun then began.
Of course we had to look for the Flower Girl Dresses. Granddaughter #1 (age 5) and Granddaughter #2 (age 2) are the Flower Girls. GD #1 had soccer practice. So the decision was left up to those present. GD#2 was all for dressing up.
This was the first dress. GD #2 wasn't too sure about this dress thing in the beginning.
But soon she got into the groove and Daughter #1 (her Mom) kept bringing back armloads of dresses.
Here is Mom and GD#2 getting unwadded from the dress.
"Mommy....I think this is THE DRESS.!!"
She could run, prance, fluff and do all sorts of tricks in the dress. So we bought two. One for each Flower Girl.
This was the dress that Katie had picked out originally. The girls (not the Bride) decided it would be fun to match the Flower Girl dresses. So they all flocked to the racks and pulled out dozens of dresses.
It was a mad house. But...oh, so much fun.
This is the Maid of Honor's Dress.
These will be in Champagne to match the Maid of Honor.
The Bride (red dress far left) could not resist putting on a dress. All the dresses will be Champagne. There will be six attendants plus the flower girls and I think we might have a couple of toddler boys in the bridal party also.
The Bride called me the next morning in a fit of Bridal Anxiety. She was not too sure about the choices.
And I admit, that it is a bit hard to visualize the Bride, and the Attendants with all the dressed perfectly fitted and in the correct colors.
However, in my opinion, I think everyone will look just lovely and the Bride with be the Star of the Day. Just as she should be. (Note to Bride: I think the flower girls are going to give you some competition!)
