The asst. gardener gave us a tour of the grounds yesterday afternoon. The resort employs 80 gardeners and they are busy all day tending to over 180 species of plants. This is the rainy season here in Bali and the Chinese are quite thrilled as it is expected to rain on Sunday which is Chinese New Year. Rain brings good fortune and good luck. This is the year of the pig. Both my daughter Kaite and I were born in the year of the pig. It is an auspicious sign for women and so Chinese women hope to have thier baby girls born in this year. I continue to live in the plunge pool-it is no accident that both of my girls are Pices. Last night we also went to a buffet at the beach. They had bonfires, luminaries, tatami tables, sand tables; it was lovely with the sound of the ocean, the Balinese music and dancers. We ate in the pavalion. This evening we go to a Hindu temple and I am told the monkeys are very naughty so our guide has to carry a big stick to make them behave.
