A New Adventure Begins

This morning we woke before dawn. Our driver, Larry from a local limo company, came to take Dick, me, and our luggage to BWI (Baltimore-Washington International) airport. As daylight slowly appeared it was bleak and cold--this is January after all. And that is why we were winging our way aboard an American Airlines 757 to San Juan Puerto Rico.

Our only in flight adventure was a brief few minutes of turbulance. About as much turbulance as I have ever experienced if you take away the time I was approaching Dallas airport and hit wind sheer three times. All that happened was some sloshing of the liquids in the bottle and glass. Dick handled this much better than I. That is Orange Juice and Champagne that I am trying to keep in the glass.

We landed in sunny San Juan and our huge jet taxied up to the gate. We sat and waited for the mechanical passageway to hook onto our door. And we waited. The pilot finally told us that the airport didn't know we were there. Like, how can you miss seeing a big silver 757 slowly approaching the airport terminal?

Other than that bit of comedy, I have been very impressed by how the airport personnel shuffled plane loads--from BWI,Dulles, Charlotte--all arriving at once and getting us out of there in good time. From the time we landed (rather walked off the plane) until we checked in our hotel it was about 20 minutes. An hour after we landed I was sun bathing by the pool. Very lovely.

Our room at the Merriott overlooks the ocean. We ate dinner up at the lounge at the top of the building and watched the sun set. We then walked on the beach a bit. Inside was a very hot Salsa band. Now we are in the room Watching Football. How about that San Diego/Indianapolis game. The non football types here were even excited.

Best of all I have unlimited connectivity on the internet. Whooppee!
