and double aargh! We got home if fine form, no broken furnace this time. But when I went to turn on my desk top---no power! Did all the trouble shooting that HP help and support said to. Finally got down to the box where it said to 'contact service provider.' Did that to the tune of $35 and he said nothing was wrong. Brought the thing home, plugged it in and the little green light on the back started blinking again. That means trouble. Since the shop guy didn't have a problem I called the home service guy and he said 'yeah you have a problem.' Cost me $65 to find out what I already knew.
So he took the processor back to the first guy and he said ' Yup you have a problem.' OK so fix it!. It is the power supply box that is being shorted out by the dial up modem--so take out the dial up modem as I use High speed. Well, he had another problem. He does not have the power supply box that fits. Has to order it and needs to have it prepaid. I suggested that since I already plunked down a bunch of $ for service that I should be entitled to some service. They talked to the accounts lady and she said that I have to prepay for the part but that labor will not be charged since I payed for so much service.
We leave again on Sunday for another month long travel adventure so my poor desk top processor will have to languish in the shop until 10 Feb.
I tell you all this because I haven't been lax about the blog , just technology frustrated. My trusty laptop decided that it wanted to have problems of another nature---namely memory. So I have been fiddling with the memory for the past week. I think I have things sorted out. But I am running out of time in terms of updating the old blogs while my life has gone full tilt with bunches of new adventures. Then I start all over again on Sunday with my travel adventures.
