My youngest daughter is getting married on Saturday evening. The wedding is going to be at the Smyrna, DE opera house and the reception at the grooms mother's house across the street. It should be lovely.
Most of the wedding guests are the groom's family, hence the wisdom of having it in Smyrna where they all live.
I made two bridal veils for my daughter. The one for the wedding incorporated the Alacon lace mantilla that I wore at my own 70's type marriage. We didn't do weddings back in those days. I stitched the mantilla onto a cathedral style bridal illusion and it turned out stunning. I also made her a little wisp of a veil for the reception so that she can hip hop to her hearts content without getting caught in bridal illusion. I also created a bustle for the dress. It had a train but no built in bustle. Can't hip-hop with a train either.
I altered several dresses for the bridal party. That was fun and challenging. Then it was to the most exciting effort of all. I made the little flower girl halos with lots of flowers, ribbons and glue gunned beads at the center of the flowers to make them look fancy. I loved doing all that work.
Now Dick and I are cleaning the house for our 12 house guests who will be attending the wedding. We also like the challenge of visitors as it forces us to vacuum the cob webs and sweep the dust bunnies under the carpet. Plus we get to buy all kinds of junk food for our guests. (I get to eat the leftovers--can't wait to dig into a large bowl of Fruit Loops with chocolate milk on them). If any grandkids are reading this please make sure that you leave a healthy amount of Fruit Loops and chocolate milk. You can eat as much chips, chocolate and candy as you want.
