I see that it has been about three weeks since I visited this spot. Several of my dear readers are starting to complain about the absence of any new entries.
My excuse is very lame. I have been occupied by all the activities of daily living. Every weekend for the past month we have had the joy of a grandchild visit. Dick and I decided that taking more than one grandchild at a time was too much work and far too tiring.
Another grandkid came to visit. Dick's youngest little granddaughter is very cute and very two.She is into potty training. Exploring everything. Trying to sneak out the front door, etc. We did feed the horses the apples, had Gran'Ma's macaroni and cheese for lunch (she liked it very much--two year olds can be vicious critics of home cooking), and played with the iPhone. We went upstairs for a brief rest before she had to go home. Her dad said it was time to get in the car and go home and she says,"No. I stay gran'ma's house. I tired. I sleep gran'ma's house." That made me feel really fine. So I promised that she could set up a sleepover date in the future. She was content, got in the car and left. Meanwhile, I collapsed on the bed and took a long nap.
Besides the grandkids, we had some worrisome excitement with my dad. He woke early a couple of Wed up ago with chest pain. Went to the hospital and come to find out he had a heart attack. I flew up, my other sister drove in. Two sisters and brother live nearby. We had some tense moments waiting for tests results. Sometimes the news was good, sometimes it was worrisome. The final treatment was a stent placement. I stayed a few days after he came home. I am a retired cardiovascular nurse so my observations and advice were helpful to my dad and siblings. I find no comfort in my knowledge whatsoever. Knowing too much is sometimes not a good thing.
I am back home now and the garden needs attention. A wedding veil needs to be made. The wedding dress altered. One bridesmaids dress majorly altered. One bridesmaids dress and two flower girl dresses hemmed and the shoulder straps shortened. The wedding is the 31st of May. My peers in our over 55 community told me the best thing I can do as mother of the bride is wear beige, be gracious and keep my mouth shut! Good advice.
So it's off to the sewing room today.
