We arrived in port this morning a few hours later than scheduled. The past few days we have been out running Tropical Storm Noel. He decided to take the same route, in reverse, that we were. Therefore, we had to go east towards Portugal to skirt the storm. This Caribbean cruise ended up being a mid Atlantic cruise for some time. We did have some high winds and rains but nothing more exciting than that. Finally, landed in St. Maartin. I plan to spend the day enjoying the view from our balcony and getting a massage.
Did I say something about enjoying the view from my Balcony? While I was taking a shower this high rise of the seas pulled in next to us. Obstructing MY island view!
The only positive part of this annoyance was our departure. The captains got into a ships horn blowing contest. What fun!!!This only incited the rowdy folks crowding the decks and balconies to get more rowdy. Did I mention this is Halloween Night?
The atrium is all deck out in Halloween themes and the staff has planned costume parades and a Beatles party tonight. I don't feel too much in the Halloween spirit though. Warm, balmy temps and azure seas are not part of my experience with Halloween. I am missing sitting on my porch with a huge bowl of candy interacting with all the kids that would come by the house on Halloween night. I miss making costumes for the kids. I miss eating stale Halloween candy. Oh well........
As compensation the ship's staff has taken pumpkin carving and decorating to a new art form. There were dozens of beautifully decorated pumpkins.
The genealogy aspect of the cruise has been wonderful. We have 31 hours of lectures and tutorials scheduled. In the spirit of the night Bob Velke, pres. and developer of the software The Master Genealogist (This link provides a very good review of my preferred genealogy software) fit a one hour tutorial between departure party and dinner.

Stale candy? Our candy was never stale!
After you kids ate all the good stuff (I got some good stuff too--called it taxes when I inspected the loot) and the rest sat around for awhile...yeah, it was stale... but I still ate it.
Hahaha! I guess you are right! I hope you are having fun. Someone threw a pack of Milk Duds at my front door last night, but that was the only mischief caused. I didn't pass out candy. Call me a "Boo Humbug." I am just happy my two 25 pounder pumplins weren't smashed! Love ya, Katie
